Porcelain or sandstone?

Porcelain is dense, does not stain easily and needs almost no maintenance, but it costs more and must be primed and laid on a full bed. Sandstone is warmer to look at and cheaper, and it does want sealing and occasional cleaning.

Why is my patio rocking?

Spot bedding. Slabs laid on dabs of mortar have voids underneath, so they flex, crack and eventually rock. The fix is lifting and re-bedding, which is why we lay on a full bed from the start.

Can the patio be level with my back door?

It has to stay clear of the damp proof course, so the finished level is set from that. Where you want a flush threshold, a drainage channel across the door gives you the level look without bridging the wall.

Does a patio need sealing?

Porcelain does not. Sandstone and limestone benefit from it, mostly against staining rather than for durability, and it is best done once the paving has dried out properly after laying. We will tell you which yours needs.

Will weeds grow through it?

Not through a full mortar bed with correctly filled joints. What looks like weeds growing through is nearly always seed landing in the joints from above, which brushing and the occasional treatment deals with.
