Is my damp definitely rising damp?

Probably not. True rising damp is far less common than it is diagnosed. Penetrating damp from a roof, gutter or bridged wall, and condensation, account for most of what we get called to look at.

Do I need an injected damp course?

Only if the original damp proof course has genuinely failed and nothing else is wetting the wall. If a downpipe has been discharging into the brickwork for two years, fixing the downpipe is the damp proofing.

How long does a wall take to dry out?

Longer than most people expect. A saturated solid wall can take months to dry once the water is stopped, which is why re-plastering too early leaves you with the same stains again.

Do you charge to look at damp?

Ring us and we will tell you before we come out. What we will not do is offer a free survey that always concludes you need an injected damp course, because that is how a great deal of damp work gets mis-sold.

Is the work guaranteed?

Ask at the quote stage what cover applies to your job and we will set it out in writing rather than in conversation. It depends what the work actually is, because stopping a leaking gutter and installing a damp course are not the same thing.
