Render fails for a reason. Water gets in behind it from a gutter, a coping or a bridged damp course, then frost pushes it off the wall. Rendering straight over a blown, hollow area just hides the problem for a season.
So we tap the wall through, take off anything hollow, and sort out what let the water in. Then the wall is re-rendered in sand and cement or a silicone through-coloured system, or repaired and painted in a breathable masonry paint.
- The wall gets sounded out, so you are not paying to render over a hollow area.
- Bell drips and beads fitted, which is what stops water tracking back into the wall.
- Breathable finishes on solid walls rather than sealing moisture in.
- Being roofers, we fix the gutter that caused it while we are there.
