The work
A new roof, built from the deck up
When a roof has had its last patch, replacing the covering costs less than another five years of call-outs. We strip the old tiles or slates, take the felt off and look at the battens and rafters underneath, because that is where the real condition of a roof shows.
From there the roof goes back together in the right order: breathable membrane, new treated battens, the covering you have chosen, and lead or proprietary flashings at every abutment. Ridge and hip lines are finished dry rather than bedded in mortar, so there is nothing to crack and drop out in a few winters.
