The work
Lead, done as lead
Lead lasts for decades when it is allowed to expand and contract. It fails when the bays are too long, the code is too thin, or somebody has run a bead of mastic along the top edge instead of chasing it into the joint.
We cut and dress lead on site: step and cover flashings to chimneys, soakers between slates and abutment walls, valley and box gutter linings, and the small lead roofs over bays and porches that are so common on West London houses.
- Lead gets dressed and fixed, never left patched with sealant as a finished job.
- Correct bay lengths, so thermal movement does not split the sheet.
- Old lead is stripped and taken away rather than left on the roof.
- A leak is traced to its source before anything is quoted.
